To mark the anniversary of 150 years since the establishment of the University of Bucharest, the Faculty of Political Science invites social science and humanities scholars from all over the world to the 1st edition of the international interdisciplinary conference on political research SCOPE – Science of politics (Bucharest, 27-29 June 2014, http://www.scienceofpolitics.eu).

An ambitious event supported by the International Political Science Association (IPSA) RC 33 - The Study of Political Science as a Dicipline, the European Confederation of Political Science Association (ECPSA) and the Regional Francophone Centre for Advanced Studies (CeReFrEA), it welcomes proposals of individual papers, panel or roundtables on any topic, theme, school of thought, disciplinary perspective and methodological approach relevant for contemporary political research.

The best papers will be considered for publication within special journal issues or collective volumes with partner publishers, with the most innovative benefiting from direct feedback from the distinguished members of the scientific committee.

Keynote lectures on the state of political research and the challenges of exploring political issues are offered throughout the event by Aurel BRAUN (University of Toronto/Harvard University, Professor Honoris Causa University of Bucharest), Donatela DELLA PORTA (European University Institute, recipient of the ECPR Mattei Dogan award for distinguished achievements in political science), Jean-Michel DE WAELE (Université Libre de Bruxelles, Doctor Honoris Causa University of Bucharest), Paschalis KITROMILIDES (University of Athens, Doctor Honoris Causa University of Bucharest), Leonardo MORLINO (Doctor Honoris Causa University of Bucharest, former president of the International Political Science Association) and Philippe SCHMITTER (European University Institute, recipient of the ECPR Mattei Dogan award for distinguished achievements in political science).

Apart from working sessions, guests are also invited to participate in various complementing events such as book & journal launch sessions, special sessions on how to succeed in publishing internationally and meetings with publishers, project drafting sessions for those wishing to take more advantage from meeting colleagues from different countries, as well as a series of social activities including inter alia a festive dinner, guided tours of the city, wine tasting tours and free/special price entrance to all the venues of the Bucharest International Biennale of Contemporary Art 2014 of which SCOPE 2014 is both a parallel event and partner.
